We have made it home. We left Texas Sunday at noon and landed in Colorado Springs about 10pm. We left CS 8am Monday morning and landed home just after 8pm Monday. We made incredible time! Still not sure how we did it in under 22 hours, since I have always said it is 22 driving hours, but I won't complain. I am still trying to recover. The boys did awesome. They are really good travelers, which makes long days much easier.

Seems like I am already forgetting some of the things we did, so here are some more pictures.

This kid and all his faces cracks me up!

Lake time with the cousins.  Notice the really brown water from all the rains?  The lake was actually closed about 5 days due to tropical storm Bill because of high water levels.

The boys got pretty good in the kayak, especially Benjamin.  He learned how to maneuver it very well.  (I keep telling the boys I want to teach them to be proficient in all these random things -kayaking- so one day one of them can run The Amazing Race with me.)

A sure sign of being tired is falling asleep while sitting at the table.

Our precious cousin Kenna (I love this picture)

Boys enjoyed getting some 'tractor' time in...the riding lawn mower.

We visited the Fort Worth Water Gardens one day.  For some reason I did not get a lot of pictures, but the boys sure enjoyed it.

It was pretty much as I remembered it when I would visit in grade school.

Now a days, when I make my long road trips, two things I really enjoy is being out of the car and not running crazy every day.  To put an educational spin on our trip, we ditched the car and road the train into Dallas to see where JFK was shot.  (The boys had never been on a train before.)

This was a plaque at the sight of the shooting.  Benjamin was very intrigued by all the facts.  There was a 'conspiracy theory' guy who had set up a table with his take on the events.  (He was in journalism and had done television interviews with people after the shooting.)  He was soaking it all up and almost convinced me to spend the money to buy this guy's CDs so he could determine for himself what really happened.

The famed 'X' in the middle of the road where the car was when he was shot.

After visiting the site for a while, we made our way in the rain to a Subway for lunch.  We then took a city bus to Klyde Warren park. (It is this amazing park in the middle of downtown Dallas that is built over a freeway.  In one corner of the park is a kids area.)  We got rained on here too, but it was so refreshing.

I am not sure if Kenna was just contemplating things or trying to find where the boys were hiding...

The boys loved this architecture...

On the way back, we got off the train for a short visit at the Children's Hospital to see the model train display I had read about online.  (It is open to the public ~ not just patients ~ but I was not prepared for the security measures they had in place.)  The detail is crazy.  (One thing I was intentional about this trip, was taking my camera off auto mode and learning to shoot without a flash...I succeeded in these shots where it was inside and not a lot of natural light!)

Here is Snow White and the 7 Dwarfs just hanging out.

King Kong followed by Ninja Turtles.

I never actually got a picture of the train.  I was so lost in the detail, by the time one of the six trains came, I missed the shot.

We had a really fun day. Very glad we changed up our plans last minute, otherwise we would have hit Dallas a few days later in a torrential downpour (Tropical Storm Bill).
